Bob hair: Classic haircut never goes out of style

A bob hairstyle is already considered a classic haircut that is always in the trend.  Generally, bob hair starts from ear level to till the shoulders.  The bob haircut frames the face in a way that a wide face will seem tapered.  This haircut can soften the jaw line for those with angled faces.

The first bob haircut emerged in the 1920’s immortalized by American actress Colleen Moore.  It instantly caught the limelight mainly because women during those times were seen with long luxurious locks.  Then, it was a symbol of the liberated and empowered women defined by new freedoms.  While the style experienced a lull a couple of decades after that, bob cut emerged again in the 1960’s.  Many actresses have since then worn the do and have popularized and made the bob hair a sophisticated and classic cut among women.

One of the most popular bob cut is the A-line bob made very popular by Victoria Beckham.  This type of bob hair is cut asymmetrical with longer hair in front and the usual layered back.  This bob hair is very close to the inverted bob which also creates that distinctive angled look.  Same with all the classic bob cuts, this type of style frames the face.

The classic one length bob cut style is considered the most conservative variation of the bob hair.  Since, it is one length this hairstyle is worn without any bangs.   A slight variation of this bob cut has slight fringes on the bottom to create softness around the edges.  On the other hand, there is a bob cut that is blunt and heavy at the rim and but has layers all throughout.  This bob hair will create lots of volume and can definitely add a lot of texture to your hair.

A flirtatious variant of the classic bob hair is called the flippy bob.  It is called as such because as the bottom is layered for about two inches, it creates enough volume to make some hairs flip, but still create a frame in the face area, as all classic bob hairs do.  This bob cut can also be worn with a texturised bangs to add more drama.

 Hollywood actress Katie Holmes created another wave when she decided to cut short her hair and wear another type of bob cut called cropped bob which is a little bit shorter than the classic cut.  The cut flow straight right in the jaw line to emphasize the jaws.  A full fringe or bangs top the do, covering the forehead and creating an illusion of a petite face

Whether you hair is curly or straight, almost anyone and everyone can wear a bob haircut.  It’s a sophisticated and stylish way to wear your hair that has a sleek corporate office look or a scrunched do for that fun and casual look on some occasions. 

You can opt to add a little more volume to a bob hair with the use of volumising gel or styling mouse when the hair is still damp.  Then, blow-dry the hair with the use of a round hair brush.  A diffuser will bring out your natural curls to create that scrunched look.

 A lot of women have fashioned a bob cut simply because it’s so simple and easy to manage.  Bobs are likewise considered versatile.  By adding some layers, you can enhance texture of the hair and add more drama by curling, waving or flipping.
